Update - Alberta Nurseries joins UN Billion Tree Campaign
07/08/2010 - Alberta Nurseries has joined the United Nations Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign. This program is organized with the objective of encouraging people, communities, organizations, business and governments to plant one billion trees worldwide each year to target climate change. By the end of 2009, more than 7.4 billion trees in over 170 countries had been planted under this campaign. The Billion Tree Campaign will make a substantial contribution to the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity, raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity that forms the foundation of the living networks and systems that provide us all with health, wealth, food, fuel and vital ecosystem services our lives depend on. The trees and shrubs you receive from Alberta Nurseries and the Alberta Shelterbelt program can contribute to this world wide goal. Have your good work and tree planting recognized around the world! Let's all do our small part for climate change; plant and register your trees at http://www.unep.org/billiontreecampaign/
